Men's Golf Announces 2019-20 Slate

NORMAN – Oklahoma men's golf head coach Ryan Hybl and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners' 2019-2020 tournament slate on Monday.

"We are excited about the upcoming season and the opportunities that are in front of us this year," Hybl said. "We work hard with our schedule to go play all over the country, purposely, in order to challenge our guys in different climates and grasses."

The Sooners begin the fall season ready to defend their title at Pebble Beach Golf Links competing in the Carmel Cup, Aug. 28-Sept. 1. This is the sixth straight year the team will open their season in Pebble Beach, Calif. The team will again look to defend their team title at the Gopher Invitational on Sept. 8-10 and compete for their fifth victory in the last six years at the event.

OU heads back to the Nike Collegiate Invitational, Sept. 27-Oct. 1, at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Ore., before traveling to Hockley, Texas, to take on the rest of the conference at the Big 12 Match Play Championship. The event will be held at The Clubs at Houston Oaks, Oct. 10-13.

The team will close the fall season again in Maui, Hawaii, at the Ka'anapoli Classic, Oct. 31-Nov. 3.

The spring slate for the Sooners begins at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar River Course Feb. 15-18. OU has finished in the top-three at the event in each of the last three years.

Oklahoma continues the spring season at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Feb. 29-March 3 in Las Vegas, Nev. The team took home the tournament title last year after Quade Cummins made a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole to take the team lead.

OU returns to the N.I.T at Omni Tucson National on March 15-17 in Tucson, Ariz. The team will then travel to Bryan, Texas to compete at The Aggie Invitational on April 3-5 at Traditions Golf Club.

The Sooners close the regular season at the Boilermaker Invitational, April 10-12, at the Kampen Golf Course.

The 2020 Big 12 Championship returns to the newly renovated Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. The event will be held April 23-26. OU claimed their first Big 12 title under Hybl at Southern Hills in 2018.

Coming off its fourth consecutive appearance in the match play portion of the NCAA Championships, the Sooners return three of their five golfers from OU's postseason lineup.

Oklahoma expects to be led by senior Quade Cummins, who registered five top-10 finishes last season and is coming off a successful summer after playing in the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup and the U.S. Amateur Championship. He also took home the tournament title at the Pacific Coast Amateur.
