Sooners Return To Water For Senior Day
March 02, 2019 | Rowing
NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma rowing team opened its spring season on a chilly morning in Oklahoma City on Saturday.
The Sooners honored the ten members of the senior class of 2019 prior to taking the water for a scrimmage versus Kansas State.
“It was a great day to honor our seniors,” said OU rowing head coach Leeanne Crain. “We are grateful to each and every one of them for their individual contributions and collective commitment to the continued growth and prosperity of the program.”
Following the senior ceremony, the class was surprised with the dedication of a boat in their honor.
Getting on the water for the first time in 2019, both varsity and novice teams participated in several short races at variable stroke ratings with Kansas State. No results were recorded in the two-session scrimmage in the morning and afternoon but Crain was encouraged by the performances from the Sooners.
“We had a very productive scrimmage, learned a lot, and look forward to the season ahead,” concluded Crain.
