Rowing Opens Spring Slate Saturday in OKC

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma rowing team returns to the water Saturday morning for their first action of the 2019 spring season. The Sooners will scrimmage Kansas State on the Oklahoma River following a senior recognition ceremony at 8 a.m. CT.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at the Exchange Boathouse in downtown Oklahoma City prior to 8 a.m. as the team recognizes the ten members of the Class of 2019.
Teams will launch at 9:15 a.m. and the scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. There will be an afternoon session that is slated to start between 12:30 and 1 p.m.
The Sooners rowed in two competitions in fall 2018, the Head of the Oklahoma in OKC and the Jayhawk Jamboree in Lawrence, Kan. At the Head of
OU closed out the fall at the Jayhawk Jamboree with numerous solid performances. The Sooners' A boat claimed gold in the collegiate 8+, while Oklahoma B took home a top-10 finish in eighth. In the 4+ competition, the Sooners collected two more top-10 spots, led by OU's A boat finishing second.
Saturday's scrimmage will be the Sooners only home competition of the spring. OU returns to the water next at the Cooper Sprints in Cooper River Park, N.J., on Sunday, March 24.
