NORMAN — Behind the best round in program history, the No. 5 Oklahoma men's golf team was victorious Sunday at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was held at the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Ka'anapali Course at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i.

The Sooners fired a 263 (-21) in Sunday's final round, marking a school record (according to records dating back to the 1993-94 season). The squad registered 29 birdies and an eagleĀ on the day with allĀ five members of the team lineup finishingĀ under par for the round and the tournament.

Sunday's 263 toppedĀ the previous school record for low round by four strokes. It brought the Sooners' total score to 805 (-47), also a tournament record, a staggering 19 strokes ahead of the previous standard.

"This has been a great week for us and to finish the fall off this way is icing on the cake," said OU head coach Ryan Hybl. "All of our guys did a great job this week at some point andĀ we did a great job of finishing today. The guys really executed coming down the stretch and that keeps showing me growth in them."

Starting the day one back, OU passed No. 18 Washington, whichĀ finished with an overall 810 (-42). UCLA took third at 817 (-35)Ā and was followed byĀ Georgia at 819 (-33) andĀ South CarolinaĀ at 820 (-32).

Senior Quade Cummins led the SoonersĀ in a star performance. Cummins started the day birdying his first seven holes. The senior went on to post a 29 on the front nine and an overall 62 (-9) on the day. ItĀ was his second bogey-free round ot the weekend to end up in a playoff against Georgia's Trent Phillip's. Phillips birdied the seventh playoff hole while Cummins parred to finish second overall.

The Weatherford, Okla., native's 62 (-9) markedĀ his lowest collegiate round and matchedĀ the school's record also held by Blaine Hale. Cummins' 54-holeĀ 193 (-20) also represented the school record, breaking PGA Tour starĀ Abraham Ancer's 195 (-21) at the Desert Shootout in 2011.

"Quade had one of the best events in our program's history and he has worked hard to get to this point," said Hybl. "I am excited to see him continue to reap the benefits of his work."

Fellow senior Garett Reband tied for 10th with an overall 204 (-9). In the final round, Reband postedĀ a 70 (-1) for the second time of the weekend to earn his second top-10 finish of the season andĀ the ninth of his career.

Sophomore Logan McAllister earned a share of 12th place after firing a 67 (-4). He recorded five birdies in the final round to total a 205 (-8).

Classmate Patrick Welch matched his career low withĀ a 67 (-4)Ā in the final round to claim a piece of 25th place. Welch recorded an eagle in the final round to mark the Sooners' third eagle on the weekend.
