NORMAN – The Oklahoma softball team topped UT-Arlington 15-3 Friday night at Marita Hynes Field in the Sooners' final action of the fall season.
After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, the Sooners responded with 13 unanswered runs and starting pitcher Shannon Saile struck out eight batters in five innings.
Jocelyn Alo exploded offensively, leading the Sooners at the plate with an impressive 4-for-6, three-homer outing and driving in five runs. Eliyah Flores chipped in a home run of her own in the sixth inning, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Grace Lyons added three hits and two RBI on the night.
In the circle, Saile, Brooke Vestal and Macy McAdoo combined to hold UTA to three runs on four hits in ten innings. Saile led the staff with her eight strikeouts, while McAdoo added five in 2.2 IP and Vestal struck out one in 2.1 innings of work.
The Sooners conclude the fall slate with an 8-0 record, outscoring opponents 114-6. OU will return to the field in the spring with a full schedule to be announced at a future date.
