NORMAN – The Oklahoma softball team put up 16 runs in a 10-inning shutout of Crowder College on Wednesday night at Marita Hynes Field.
Additionally, pitchers Olivia Rains, Shannon Saile, Alanna Thiede, Macy McAdoo and Brooke Vestal combined to hold Crowder to just three hits in the fall exhibition. Saile led the pitching staff with six strikeouts on the night in two innings of work. McAdoo picked up four strikeouts of her own and Rains added another three.
Offensively, the Sooners were led at the plate by Rylie Boone, who finished 4-for-5. Grace Lyons added three hits, while Jocelyn Alo, Kinzie Hansen and Audrie LaValley each added a pair.
Boone and Alo each drove in a game-high four runs against Crowder. Eliyah Flores and LaValley each registered a pair of RBIs and Lyons, Taylon Snow and Alycia Flores knocked in a run each.
Lyons also scored three runs in the contest. Boone, Alo, E. Flores, and LaValley each crossed home twice.
Oklahoma posted two six-run innings in the offensive explosion. The Sooners used a pair of triples from Alo and Boone, along with RBI singles from LaValley and Snow in the third to make it an 8-0 game. In the fifth, the Sooners tallied six runs on four hits, including a two-run homerun from E. Flores.
With the win, the Sooners improved to 6-0 in fall play. OU continue their fall slate as they host North Central Texas College at 6 p.m. CT at Marita Hynes Field.
