AUSTIN – The Oklahoma volleyball team came up short to No. 4 Texas as the Sooners fell to the Longhorns 25-17, 27-25, 25-20 Saturday in Austin.
OU moves to 11-5 on the season and 3-2 in Big 12 action, while the Longhorns improve to Texas 11-2 with a 5-0 mark against the conference.
The Longhorns out-hit OU .238 to .206 in the contest. OU just trailed in kills, putting away 38 to Texas' 40.
Ashlynn Dunbar had her 10
th double-digit kills performance of the season as she put away 10 kills to pace the OU attack.
Paige Anderson swung .500 on eight kills in the contest to mark the fourth time she's hit over .400 in a match in 2019.
Sarah Sanders chipped in seven kills on a .200 clip and
Sarah Maras and
Brianna Kadiku added six apiece.
Kylee McLaughlin recorded 20 assists before freshman
Rylie Gregston made her first appearance at setter and tallied nine.
Defensively,
Keyton Kinley led the Sooners with 10 digs. OU had four blocks on the night with Anderson getting in on three of them.
Texas claimed the opening set 25-17. OU took the second set to the wire, but Texas prevailed 27-25. After trailing 8-2 early in the frame, the Sooners fired back to tie the set at 24-all thanks to late kills from Dunbar and Sanders. Dunbar's eighth kill of the night gave OU a 25-24 edge, but the Longhorns rallied to put the set away. Texas took the final set 25-20.

The Sooners return to Norman for two matches as they host Kansas State on Oct. 16 followed by Iowa State on Oct. 19.
