NORMANĀ āĀ The No. 9 Oklahoma men's golf team remains in the lead after day twoĀ at the Nike Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-71, 7,109-yard Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Ore.Ā
The Sooners finished the second round with a 267 (-17), tying their lowest round score in school history, putting their 36-hole total at 537 (-31). OU leads by 15 strokes over Wake Forest heading into third round. Clemson sits at third place at 554 (-14), followed by Oklahoma State at 558 (-10) in fourth. Vanderbilt rounds out the top five at 560 (-8).
Ā "After a very solid first round, our talk last night was about getting even more from the course because we know it's out there and our guys did that today," OU head coachĀ Ryan HyblĀ said. "This group is hungry and they are doing some great things right now.Ā Tomorrow is a new day and our mindset won't change, the goal will be to keep the pedal down and see how low we can go."
Sophomore Logan McAllisterĀ leads the field in first place at 132 (-10). McAllister posted a 67 (-4) during the second round, closing his day out with five birdies on the day. The sophomore shot -4 and was bogey-free on the back nine.
Senior Garett RebandĀ is tied for second place after firing a 66 (-5) on Monday to push his 36-hole total to 133 (-9). Reband started out the day with two birdies on the front nine and completed the round with a total six birdies.
Senior Quade Cummins jumped 25 spots and is currently in a tie for 16th place. Cummins shot 66 (-5), his best score this season, in the second round to bring his two-day total to 138 (-4).
Sophomore Patrick WelchĀ moved 12 spots on the leaderboardĀ alsoĀ shooting his lowest round this season, 68 (-3) on Monday. Welch posted seven birdies on the day and is tied for 18th at 139 (-3) for the event.
SeniorĀ Thomas Johnson is also tied for 18th. Johnson carded a 72 (+1) in the second round.Ā
The final round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational will begin at 11:40 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning. OU will tee off on hole No. 1. The Sooners will be paired with Clemson and Wake Forest.
