Sooners Set for Nike Invitational

NORMAN -The No. 2 Oklahoma men's golf team travels to Fort Worth, Texas, this week for the third annual Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place Sep. 30 through Oct. 2 (Sunday-Tuesday) at the par-70, 7,209-yard Colonial Country Club.
The event features a highly competitive field with eight of the 15 teams ranked in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.
The Sooners are coming off their second victory of the season at the Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minn. Senior Blaine Hail claimed the individual title, his first career tournament win, and junior Riley Casey finished in the top ten for the second time this season.
Dating back to last season, the Sooners have won eight out of their last 10 tournaments.
OU's lineup for the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational will include Hale and Casey along with senior Brad Dalke, redshirt junior Quade Cummins and junior Garett Reband. .
OU is paired with USC and Clemson for the first round of the Nike Collegiate Invitational. The first round will begin at 7:45 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.

Had career-best weekend at the Carmel Cup, taking second place at 200 (-16), his best 54-hole total as a Sooner and second top-5 finish at OU ... 4. Quade Cummins, Redshirt Junior: Appeared in 10 events, earning six top-10 finishes last season ... Earned a share of third place carding a 209 (-4) at the Puerto Rico Classic, marking his second career top-5 finish ... Made the Big 12 All-Tournament Team tying for seventh overall at 286 (+6)... OU'S NIKE GOLF COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL HISTORY
This marks the Sooners' fifth consecutive appearance in the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational. Last season, the team finished first at Witch Hollow course at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore. In 2016, the event was held at the Colonial Country Club, and OU took fourth with an 855 (+15) on the weekend.
