NORMAN — The No. 3 Oklahoma men's golf team continued its strong start to the 2018-19 season and will take a 15-shot lead into the final round at the Carmel Cup. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the iconic par-72, 6,828-yard Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Each team competes with six golfers at the Carmel Cup, and the low five scores count toward the team total each round. The Sooners finished the second round with a two-day total of 676 (-44) after recording a team total of 336 (-24) during Saturday's 18 holes.

“We backed a really good round yesterday with a great round today,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “Our guys love Pebble and they are clicking right now. To have three guys shoot 66 or better in the same round is special. We have a big day tomorrow and I want our guys to keep the pedal down.”

OU leads Georgia by 15 shots heading into the final day of action after the Bulldogs posted a 339 (-21) on Saturday to move into second place with a 36-hole 691 (-29). Oklahoma State holds third place at 700 (-20), while Arkansas is in fourth at 703 (-17). TCU sits in fifth place with a two-day total of 708 (-12).

Five Sooners are in the top 15 on the individual leaderboard heading into Sunday's final 18 holes. Junior Riley Casey, freshman Logan McAllister and junior Garett Reband all fired rounds of 66 or lower on Saturday.

Reband maintained his individual lead after posting a 66 (-6) during Saturday's second round to bring his 36-hole total to 130 (-14). Reband's two-day score of 130 marks his lowest total through two rounds in his OU career. The junior claimed seven birdies during his round on Saturday and holds a one-shot lead over Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff heading into Sunday.

Casey finished with a career-low 65 (-7) on Saturday to move into sole possession of fourth place through two rounds at 134 (-10). Casey, who finished with a team-best 10 birdies on Saturday, opened his round with birdies on six of the first seven holes. The Abilene, Texas, native carded three straight birdies on holes 15 through 17 to finish with OU's lowest individual round of the day.

Senior Blaine Hale shares fifth place after two rounds with a two-day 135 (-9) after carding a 70 (-2). Hale birdied three of his first six holes Saturday. McAllister recorded a 66 (-6) during the second round to move into a tie for 11th place with a 36-hole total of 138 (-6) heading into the final round. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native carded nine birdies during his round Saturday.

Senior Brad Dalke was consistent throughout the day and carded a 69 (-3) during the second round to bring his 36-hole total to 139 (-5). Dalke is tied for 15th place with one round to go. Redshirt junior Quade Cummins is tied for 28th place at 143 (-1) after posting a second-round 71 (-1).

The final round of the Carmel Cup is scheduled for Sunday morning and the Sooners will tee off at 9:50 a.m. CT on hole No. 1. The Sooners will be paired with Arkansas, Georgia and Oklahoma State.
