TULSA, Okla. – The No. 4 Oklahoma men's golf team heads into the final round of the 2018 Big 12 Championship with a two-shot lead after carding a 281 (+1) during Tuesday's third round. The three-day, 72-hole tournament is being played at the par-70, 7,158-yard Southern Hills Country Club.

Through 54 holes, the Sooners have recorded a 852 (+12) and lead Iowa State, who is second at 854 (+14). Oklahoma State and Texas share third place at 858 (+18), while Baylor is in sole possession of fifth place with a 54-hole 861 (+21).

“Our job today was to get our team in a position to have a chance tomorrow,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We talk about this all year long, but it's rare that you can actually go out and win a golf tournament and blow everybody out. It's about having the opportunity and we're going to have that opportunity. Our guys will be ready for that.

“The weather is going to be different Wednesday. It's going to get tougher and we're going to have to dig in our heels and try to figure out how to manage the golf course. Tomorrow, the guys that make the least amount of mistakes will win.”

Senior Grant Hirschman is tied for the individual lead with Texas' Doug Ghim at even-par 210 through 54 holes. Hirschman posted the lowest score of the day among all players with a 68 (-2) and for the second straight day closed strong on the back nine.

Hirschman sank a 40-foot putt for birdie on hole No. 11 to pick up momentum and then followed up with a par-save on No. 12. From there, the Collierville, Tenn., native made a 15-foot putt on hole No. 13 from off the green for eagle and followed up with his fourth birdie of the day at No. 14.

“I didn't have the best start to the day early, but I stayed positive. I had Coach Hybl with me and he helped me stay aggressive,” Hirschman said after the round. “Luckily, I got hot on the back nine. I made a 40-footer on the No. 11, but the par on No. 12 was a momentum saver.”

Redshirt sophomore Quade Cummins continued his consistent play and sits in a tie for sixth place at 213 (+3). Cummins carded a 73 (+1) on Tuesday, picking up three birdies during his round.

Junior Brad Dalke posted an even-par 72 during the third round and shares 11th place at 215 (+5). Senior Rylee Reinerston finished with a 74 (+4) during Tuesday's 18 holes and sits in a tie for 21st place at 218 (+8) through three rounds.

Rounding out OU's lineup, junior Blaine Hale recorded a 72 (+2) in the third round and is tied for 27th place at 219 (+9) going into the final 18 holes Wednesday.

The final round of the 2018 Big 12 Championship is scheduled for Wednesday. OU's fourth round will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT from hole No. 1 with the Sooners paired with Iowa State.
