OU Holds Third at Southern Highlands Collegiate

Sooners in Second Through 36 Holes at Big 12s

TULSA, Okla. – After the first two rounds of the 2018 Big 12 Championship, the No. 4 Oklahoma men's golf team is in second place with an overall 571 (+11). The three-day, 72-hole tournament is being played at the par-70, 7,158-yard Southern Hills Country Club.

OU posted a 294 (+14) in the first round and a 277 (-3) in the second, advancing four spots on the team leaderboard.

“It was a nice turn of momentum for us to play well down the stretch in the second round of the day,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “This morning was tough, but it was good to our guys finish well in the afternoon.”

Iowa State leads the 10-team field with a two-round 569 (+9), two shots ahead of Oklahoma. Oklahoma State is in third place with a 36-hole 574 (+14), while Texas is in sole possession of fourth at 577 (+17). Sitting in fifth place, Baylor carded a 581 (+21) during Monday's two rounds.

Senior Grant Hirschman and redshirt sophomore Quade Cummins paced the Sooners during Monday's 36 holes, finishing tied for sixth with a two-round 142 (+2). Both players carded a 75 (+5) during the opening round, but rebounded in the afternoon session with 67s (-3).

Hirschman recorded four birdies on the back nine to give the Sooners momentum late in the second round, while Cummins played nearly bogey-free in the second round, collecting four birdies during the second 18 holes of the day.

Playing in his first team event since September, senior Rylee Reinertson is tied for 11th place with a 144 (+4). The senior finished with a 72 (+2) in the first round and followed up with a 72 (+2) in the second.

One stroke behind Reinertson, junior Brad Dalke is in a tie for 14th at 145 (+5). After picking up a 72 (+2) in the first round, Dalke finished with a second-round 73 (+3) to close out day one.

Junior Blaine Hale holds a share of 28th place after tallying a 147 (+7). Hale finished with a 76 (+6) in the opening 18 holes, but rebounded in the second round with a 71 (+1).

The third round of the 2018 Big 12 Championship is scheduled for Tuesday. OU's third round will begin at 8 a.m. CT. The Sooners will be paired with Iowa State and will start the third round from hole No. 1.
