Sooners Set for San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Oklahoma rowing team begins its spring season this Saturday at the San Diego Crew Classic in Mission Bay, Calif. The two-day regatta hosts more than 100 races and is considered one of the premiere events in rowing.

This marks the first time since 2011 that OU is competing in the San Diego Crew Classic.

The Sooners will race in the women's 1V8, 2V8 and 1V4 on Saturday. The top two teams from each of three heats in each of those events will advance to a final race on Sunday with the third- and fourth-place finishers competing in a “petite final,” and the fifth- and sixth-place teams racing in a “third final.” OU's 2V4 will row in one race on Sunday. The Sooners will compete with some of the best teams in the country, including California, which finished second at the 2017 NCAA Championships, and Big 12 rival Tennessee.
