On Serve: Alex Bakshi
February 07, 2018 | Men's Tennis
Alex Bakshi joined the Sooners this fall as a transfer from Texas A&M and quickly made his presence known. In his first tournament as a Sooner, the junior won the Napa Valley Tennis Classic and went on to make a run to the ITA Central Regional Championships quarterfinal.
Bakshi, a native of Tbilisi, Georgia, is no stranger to success: he won an SEC title with the Aggies last spring, and helped guide the team to a Sweet 16 appearance at the 2017 NCAA Team Championships. Now at OU, Bakshi looks to add a Big 12 Conference championship to his trophy case before making a run in the NCAA team tournament.
Bakshi and the Sooners off to a great start - a force at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Sooners, Bakshi has compiled a 4-0 record in spring duals and won every match in straight sets to guide the Sooners to a 6-1 overall record to open the season.
