OU Rowing Set for Jayhawk Jamboree

NORMAN – In its second and final competition of the fall season, the Oklahoma rowing team returns to action Sunday at the sixth annual Jayhawk Jamboree in Lawrence, Kan.

“We're excited to take our novice team on the road this weekend for their first race against some Big 12 teams and other regional opponents," Oklahoma rowing head coach Leeanne Crain said. "The folks at KU do a great job of running this event and we're looking forward to participating again this fall.”

The Sooners are set to compete in three races on Sunday and seek to build upon a strong performance at the Head of the Oklahoma on Sept. 29-30. In the collegiate 8+ night sprints' at the Head of the Oklahoma, both Sooners' boats that competed took home medal finishes, with Oklahoma A claiming the gold. The Sooners also saw two top-10 finishes in the collegiate 8+ competition and two top-five finishes in the open pairs races on the weekend.

OU will begin this weekend competing in the collegiate women's 4+ at 11 a.m. CT, while the Sooners' collegiate women's novice 8+ squad will race at noon.

Oklahoma will feature multiple boats in the collegiate women's 8+ at 3 p.m. to cap their weekend in Lawrence.
