Dalke Advances to Match Play at Western Amateur

NORMAN – Oklahoma rising junior Brad Dalke advanced to the match play competition at the 115th Western Amateur after finishing second on Thursday.

The prestigous amateur event is being held at the par-71, 7,091-yard Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill.

Dalke, who earned PING All-America honorable mentions honors during his sophomore season, was consistent throughout the stroke play portion of the tournament, carding a four-round 271 (-13).

After shooting 67 (-4) in the opening round Tuesday, Dalke quickly moved up the leaderboard Wednesday with a second-round 64 (-7).

Despite two stoppages in play during Thursday's pair of rounds, Dalke remained in control by tallying a 68 (-3) in the third round and a 72 (+1) in the fourth round. 

Out of the 156-player field, the top 16 finishers advanced to match play, which will start Friday morning. Dalke will tee off at 9:15 a.m. in the Sweet 16 against Joaquin Niemann, who is ranked No. 1 in the latest World Golf Amateur rankings. 

The Sooners were also represented by Blaine Hale and Grant Hirschman at Western Amateur. Hirschman tied for 23rd at 4-under 280 (71-67-72-70), while Hale finished tied for 28th at 3-under 281 (69-67-70-75).
