Allcorn Named OU Men's Golf Assistant Coach

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head men's golf coach Ryan Hybl announced Tuesday the hiring of Bill Allcorn as the program's assistant coach.

Allcorn comes to OU after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant men's golf coach with Baylor University. He also worked with Baylor's women's program in spring 2017.

“We are excited about the addition of Bill Allcorn to our program,” Hybl said. “He is going to be a great fit for our guys, and he will help us continue to grow our program in the right direction.”

Allcorn has also developed Explosive Golf Training, a program designed to help golfers maintain posture and balance while improving accelerating and decelerating abilities in their golf swing. He has consulted with multiple college golf programs and trained both professionals and high-level amateurs on his program.

“First off, I want to thank Coach Hybl and the OU administration for inviting me to join their staff,” Allcorn said. “I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to work with the OU Men's Golf Team. My wife, Mallory, and I are more than excited to join the OU family. We know this is exactly where we should be. I am thrilled to be able to invest into the student-athletes' lives and have the opportunity to push them to be the best golfers they can be.

“I'd also like to thank Vince Clark at McClennan Community College and Mike McGraw at Baylor University for their mentorship and influence in my coaching career,” Allcorn continued. “I'm looking forward to a great season. Boomer!”

As a golfer, Allcorn played professionally for eight years. He was the 2011 winner of the Adams Pro Tour Money List, and he earned a number of victories on the Adams Pro Tour, in state opens and in pro-am events.

Allcorn was a four-year letterwinner at Baylor. He competed in 38 tournaments during his career, claiming a title at the Bill Hill Invitational and finishing as runner-up in the 2009 Big 12 Championship.

He graduated cum laude in 2009 with a degree in economics. A two-time All-America Scholar, Allcorn was also a four-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 team and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll 10 times.

A native of Abilene, Texas, Allcorn lettered in both golf and basketball at Abilene High School. He and his wife, Mallory, have two children.

Allcorn takes over at OU for Jim Garren, who was named the men's golf coach at Coastal Carolina University on July 20.
