Sooners to Compete for Conference Championship

NORMAN — The No. 12 Oklahoma men's golf team begins postseason competition this week at the Big 12 Championship. The three-day, 72-hole tournament will take place April 24-26 (Monday-Wednesday) at the par-70, 6,940-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
“This is championship time, and this is what we have been working toward all year,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “Prairie Dunes is one of the best golf courses in the country, and it will be a tough test, but we are looking forward to an opportunity to bring home a Big 12 Championship.”
The championship will prove to be competitive, as five of the Big 12's 10 programs are currently ranked in the top 15 of Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, including No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 Oklahoma State, the Sooners, No. 14 Texas and No. 15 Texas Tech.
The Sooners are coming into the postseason off of a tie for second at The Maxwell on April 14-15. Junior Grant Hirschman was OU's best finisher, tying for fourth individually.
OU's lineup for the Big 12 Championship will feature senior Max McGreevy, Hirschman, junior Rylee Reinertson and sophomores Brad Dalke and Blaine Hale.
As the tournament's No. 3 seed, the Sooners will be paired with No. 4-seeded Texas and will tee off at 8:45 a.m. CT from hole No. 1 on Monday.

2. Grant Hirschman, Junior: Claimed his second individual win of the season at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, earning the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole … Earned his first career tournament win at the Gopher Invitational, firing a birdie on the final hole to earn the title outright … Coming off a tie for fourth at The Maxwell, marking his fifth consecutive top-20 finish dating back to his win at Southern Highlands… Individually ranked No. 39 by Golfweek/Sagarin.
3. Rylee Reinertson, Junior: Tied for fourth at the Lone Star Invitational, marking the best finish of his career and his first career top-five placing … Most recently, tied for sixth at The Maxwell, his second career top-10 finish … Has one other top-20 finish this season, a tie for 12th at the Southern Intercollegiate … A native of Gibbon, Neb., named the 2015 and 2016 Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year.
4. Brad Dalke, Sophomore: Claimed a share of 10th at The Maxwell, marking his first top-10 placing of the season … Holds two other top-20 finish this season, a tie for 18th at the Lone Star Invitational and a tie for 20th at the Carmel Cup … Matched a career-low with a 66 (-6) in the final round of the 3M Augusta Invitational … Earned an invite to The Masters April 6-9 after finishing runner-up at the 2016 U.S. Amateur.
5. Blaine Hale, Sophomore: Earned two top-five finishes during the fall, tying for fourth at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic and sharing fifth at the Gopher Invitational, the first top-five placings of his career … Shot a career-low round, 66, three times this year (Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational first round, Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic second and third rounds) … Most recently, tied for 23rd at The Maxwell … Ranked No. 95 individually by Golfweek/Sagarin.
THE COURSE
The par-70, 6,759-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club will serve as the site for the Big 12 Championship. The Championship was last contested at the course in 2013.
FORMAT
Seventy-two holes will be played over three days. The first round will begin Monday at 8 a.m. CT, and the second round will follow that afternoon. Tuesday will feature the third round, and the final round will be played on Wednesday.

OU'S BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Last season, the Sooners finished fourth in the Big 12 Championship at the Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas, with a four-round 1176 (+24) Then-sophomore Grant Hirschman fired a 63 (-9) in the third round, matching a program record and marking the lowest round in Big 12 Championship history. OU has 16 conference titles overall, with the most recent coming in 2006.
