Sooners Begin Spring Slate in Austin

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma rowing team opens its spring season this Saturday in Austin, Texas, at the Longhorn Invitational. The two-session regatta will feature eight schools competing in four-lane racing on the 2,000-meter course on Walter E. Long Lake.

The Sooners will race in the women's 1V8, 2V8 and 3V8 as well as the 1 and 2V4s. The regatta will feature elite competition with No. 8 Texas and No. 14 Duke participating in the event. Iowa, San Diego, and Notre Dame are also competing and are receiving votes in the latest CRCA poll.

The eight teams will be grouped into two flights of four teams. The four teams in each flight will compete against each other in the three NCAA events. The afternoon racing will be determined based on the results of the morning session. The top two teams from each flight will compete in the grand finals, and the bottom two teams in each flight will face off in the petite finals.
