Sooners Share Fifth through 36 Holes

NORMAN — After two rounds of The Prestige at PGA WEST, the No. 11 Oklahoma men's golf team is tied for fifth. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the par-71, 7,076-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST in La Quinta, Calif.
The Sooners posted a 290 (+6) in Tuesday's second round to bring their 36-hole total to 576 (+8).
"As poorly as we have played as a team, we still have a great chance to put together a great round tomorrow and move up the leaderboard," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said.
With a 569 (+1), No. 16 LSU paces the 13-team field that features five squads ranked in the top 25 of GolfStat rankings. No. 8 Stanford holds second at 570 (+2), and No. 14 San Diego State and Iowa State share third, one stroke behind the Cardinal. The Sooners are tied with No. 5 Texas Tech.
Quade Cummins leads the Sooners for the second day in a row, sharing sixth place with an overall 140 (-2). The redshirt freshman totaled a 71 (E) on the day, firing three birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the par-5 hole No. 12.
Also carding an even-par 71 in the second round was senior Max McGreevy. The Edmond, Okla., native pocketed five birdies on Tuesday and currently sits in a tie for 20th place with an overall 143 (+1).
Brad Dalke and Blaine Hale share 39th place at 148 (+6). The sophomores recorded a 73 (+2) and a 75 (+4), respectively, in the second round.
Junior Grant Hirschman struggled Tuesday, carding a 78 (+7). He holds a piece of 53rd place with a 150 (+8).
Freshman Riley Casey is competing as an individual and unattached from team scoring. After producing a 78 (+7) in the second round, Casey shares 64th place at 152 (+10).
The final round of The Prestige at PGA WEST is set for Wednesday morning, and the Sooners are scheduled to begin teeing off at 10:25 a.m. CT from hole No. 1. Live stats will be available on GolfStat.com.
