NORMAN – After 19 days and eight games away from home, No. 7/7 Oklahoma (43-7, 13-1 Big 12) returned to Marita Hynes Field Friday night with an 8-0, five-inning victory over Texas Tech (23-30, 6-10) in front of a season-high crowd of 1,447.

The win puts Oklahoma in position to exit the weekend with its fifth straight Big 12 title. The Sooners will clinch a share of it with a win Saturday, while a series sweep would win it for OU outright.

Friday's victory was also the 18th in a row for OU. It ties for the fifth longest streak in program history and is the longest run since winning 23 in a row from Feb. 9 to March 4 during the 2007 season. Oklahoma has also won 25 of its past 26 contests.

Against Texas Tech, OU has won 11 straight games, outscoring the Red Raiders 106-21 in the process. Oklahoma's .870 (47-7) win percentage over TTU is its best against any Big 12 team.

Eight different Sooners had a hit in the win, including two each for senior Erin Miller and sophomore Lea Wodach. Miller reached in all four plate appearances as she was 2-2 with two walks and three runs batted in. She leads the team in both multi-hit (24) and multi-RBI games (14) this season.

In the circle, sophomore Paige Parker earned a win in her 15th straight appearance, which includes two relief outings, to move to 25-3 on the season. She struck out seven and gave up just three hits with no walks in tossing her 10th shutout of the year.

Parker was perfect over the first three innings before allowing a leadoff single in the fourth. In fact, she ended all five innings with a strikeout.

Her performance continues a recent trend of domination by OU pitchers. Over the last nine games, the Sooners' staff has allowed just six runs, and only two of those were earned. The team's ERA is just 0.24 across those 59.0 innings.

Oklahoma used a two-out rally to score the game's first run in the opening inning as freshman Fale Aviu chopped a two-out single up the middle driving home Miller, who had walked to lead off the game.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the second with Miller involved once again.

Wodach stood on second base with two outs after singling to right-center and being sacrificed into scoring position. Miller then drove the first pitch she saw into the bleachers in left field for her ninth home run of the season.

After two scoreless innings, the Red Raiders had their best scoring chance in the fifth, but Parker stayed strong.

Susan Welborn hit a one-out double off the very top of the wall in left-center before moving to third later in the inning on an OU throwing error. Parker picked up her defense though by striking out the next two batters to leave Welborn at third.

The fifth inning has been OU's highest scoring inning this season, and it added to that total with five more runs Friday.

With one out, freshman Shay Knighten singled through the right side and beat the throw on freshman Fale Aviu's fielder's choice. Sophomore Nicole Pendley then dropped a single into right field, which was misplayed into an error by Kierra Miles, and Knighten scored on the play to make it 4-0.

Senior Kady Self and Wodach then went back-to-back with squeeze bunts. Both were placed perfectly in front of home plate, allowing the runners and themselves to reach safely. Now leading 6-0, Miller picked up her third RBI when she singled to right field and Self scored.

Freshman Caleigh Clifton, who earlier in the game extended her on-base streak to 24 games with a walk, ended the contest when she lifted a sacrifice fly to left and freshman pinch runner Raegan Rogers scored easily from third.

Game two of the series between Oklahoma and Texas Tech begins at 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are already sold out.
