OU Concludes Second Round of NCAAs

NORMAN – The No. 18 seed Oklahoma men's golf team holds a share of 20th place through 36 holes of the 2016 NCAA Championships. The tournament is taking place at the par-70, 7,014-yard Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
The Sooners shot a 288 (+8) on Saturday against the 30-team field, bringing their two-round total to 578 (+18), and are tied with No. 14 seed Wake Forest. The top 15 teams and top nine individuals not on those teams after 54 holes of stroke play will move on to compete in one final round of stroke play Monday. Following Monday's round, the top eight squads will advance to match play competition.
“It was very similar to yesterday in that we had a chance today but just never capitalized,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “Max McGreevy played a solid round today, and we need everyone to be their best tomorrow.”
The Sooners are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the tournament and join just Georgia, Illinois, Texas and USC as the only programs to reach the national tournament for six straight years.
No. 8 seed Vanderbilt leads the championships with a 563 (+3). Two strokes behind the Commodores is No. 3 USC. No. 21 Arkansas holds third with a 566 (+6), and No. 12 LSU and No. 20 Oregon share fourth place at 568 (+8).
Junior Max McGreevy paces the Sooners, holding a share of 24th place with a two-round 141 (+1). The Edmond, Okla., product fired a 70 (E) in the second round, pocketing three birdies on the front nine and shooting every hole at par on the back nine.
Freshman Brad Dalke is tied for 53rd place with an overall 144 (+4). After struggling on the front nine, Dalke bounced back to shoot a bogey-free back nine and collect two birdies, bringing his second round total to 73 (+3).
Senior Luke Kwon has a share of 81st place at 146 (+6). Despite carding two birdies and an eagle, Kwon could not overcome several bogeys and totaled a 73 (+3) for the second consecutive round.
Blaine Hale showed improvement on Saturday, posting four birdies en route to a 72 (+2). The freshman holds a piece of 119th place with an overall 150 (+10).
After shooting 1 under par on the front nine, sophomore Grant Hirschman struggled on the back nine and finished the round with a 76 (+6). He now holds 125th place with an overall 151 (+11).
The Sooners will tee off for the third round of the NCAA Championships Sunday at 2 p.m. CT and will be paired with Wake Forest and No. 22 seed San Diego State. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
