NORMAN -Winners of 20 straight and 27 of its past 28, No. 5/4 Oklahoma closes out the regular season with two games against Oklahoma State.
Friday's game will be played in Stillwater and airs on Fox Sports Network Plus, while Saturday will take place in Norman in front of an already sold-out crowd on Fox Sports Oklahoma. Fans can also listen on KEBC 1560 in Norman or online via link above.
OU will then find out its postseason assignment Sunday night when the bracket is announced at 9 p.m. CT on ESPNU..
Saturday is Senior Day. OU will recognize its five seniors in a postgame ceremony.
Oklahoma has an 81-70 (.536) all-time advantage over Oklahoma State, including a 37-21 edge in Norman. Since OU head coach Patty Gasso arrived in 1995, however, the Sooners own a 52-22 (.703) edge in the series.
The Sooners have won 11 straight in the series and 14 of the past 15 matchups. The last loss in the series came in Stillwater on April 27, 2011, meaning no current player on the OU roster has ever lost to OSU.
Oklahoma has won 18 straight at home vs. Oklahoma State, last losing on May 17, 1997. The Sooners have also won five straight series vs. OSU.
The Sooners have more wins over the Cowgirls than any other team in program history and Coach Gasso has more wins vs. OSU than any other team with 52.
The Sooners have won the Bedlam Cup 12 times in the 14 years since the official start of the Bedlam Series in 2001. The trophy has not left Norman, as OU retained it in 2003 and 2010.
Since the Big 12's inception, OU has done no worse than a split against OSU in the regular season series and claimed in-state bragging rights in 17 of the 20 seasons.
OU has faced OSU more than any other team as this weekend marks the 152nd and 153rd meetings between the two. Kansas (104) and Iowa State (102) are the only other teams the Sooners have met at least 100 times.
Erin Miller is the sister of OSU's Dre McKee, and they attended Jenks HS with Cowgirl Darcy Taylor. Brittany Finney and Jess Haffner each went to Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, Kan.
Oklahoma State head coach Kenny Gajewski was a member of Oklahoma's national championship baseball team in 1994 and spent 10 years as OU's turf and maintenance director.
The teams met earlier this year at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium as Oklahoma won the series opener, 10-2, in five innings.
OU led 3-2 after four innings before hitting three homers in a seven-run fifth inning. Shay Knighten hit a two-run homer, while Kady Self added a three-run shot later in the inning and Erin Miller hit a walk-off, two-run blast to right field to end it.
OU has not lost a game since a 5-2 setback to Kansas on April 2, a streak of 20 games. It's tied for the fourth longest in program annals and is the longest since winning 23 from Feb. 9 to March 4 in 2007.
During the current streak, OU has four top-25 wins, eight shutouts and four run-rules. The Sooners are 9-0 at home, 9-0 on the road and 2-0 at neutral sites, while 13 of the wins have been against the Big 12 and seven have been non-conference.
The 20-game win streak is the second longest active streak in the country behind only Fresno State (21).
In fact, Oklahoma has won 27 of its past 28 contests dating back to March 19. Over that span, only Jacksonville State has a better winning percentage in the country than Oklahoma.
During the streak, Erin Miller leads the team in batting average (.463), slugging (.731), runs (21), hits (31) and doubles (9), while Caleigh Clifton has a team-best .616 OBP and 19 walks and Shay Knighten leads in homers (4) and RBI (19).
The pitching staff has a remarkable 0.95 ERA during the streak, led by Paige Parker who has a 0.97 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 87.0 innings.
Caleigh Clifton has a streak of reaching base in 26 straight games, the longest by an OU player this season and the longest since Lauren Chamberlain reached safely in the final 25 games of 2014 and the first 13 of 2015 for a 38-game streak.
During her run, Clifton has 24 hits, 23 walks and 12 hit by pitches. Four times during the streak she's failed to get a hit or walk, but was hit by a pitch to keep the streak alive and four times she's had a hit, walk and hit by pitch in the same game.Oklahoma has won an unprecedented five straight Big 12 championships. Prior to this current run, no team in league history had even won three straight conference crowns.
Additionally, currently holding a 15-1 record in the Big 12, Oklahoma can secure its best ever finish in league play with two more wins.
Oklahoma has won nine Big 12 regular season titles and four conference tournament championships. The 13 combined championships are the most in league history.
The Sooners are undefeated in their past 36 regular season Big 12 series, going 32-0-4 in that span. The last series loss for OU came to Missouri on April 16-17, 2011. The next longest Big 12 series unbeaten streak belongs to Baylor at 3-0-0.
With five straight league crowns, the Sooners are tied for the second longest active regular season conference-title streak in the nation with Lehigh (Patriot) and North Dakota St. (Summit). Only Michigan (9) in Big Ten has a longer stretch.
Since the Big 12 began in 1996, Oklahoma has the best all-time winning percentage in conference play at .774 (288-84). Among teams currently in the league, Texas is a distant second at .646 (226-124), followed by Baylor at .503 (176-174-1), Oklahoma State at .442 (164-207), Kansas at .385 (145-232), Texas Tech at .315 (117-255) and Iowa State at .215 (79-289).
In the 21 seasons of Big 12 softball, Oklahoma has had a winning record in league play 20 times and finished first or second in the standings 17 times.
Every one of Oklahoma's main offensive starters has a batting average of at least .324 ... OU is outscoring teams 112-15 over the first two innings this year and hasn't given up a run in the first two frames since March 30, a streak of 22 games ... Sooner pitchers have given up just seven home runs in the last 30 games ... OU hurlers have also allowed just three earned runs over the last 11 games, sporting a 0.30 ERA over that span ... OU is 11-1 in road games, tying for the third best win percentage in the country at .917
Fale Aviu leads the team with a .412 average in Big 12 games and a .486 mark in road games, while Shay Knighten has a team-best .523 average in home games ... in 26.0 innings this year, Paige Parker has not given up a first inning run and has a 1.37 ERA overall in home games; she has a win in 16 straight appearances ... Erin Miller leads the team in multi-hit games (25) and multi-RBI games (14); the team is 27-1 with her in the leadoff spot
Through 5/8, among active pitchers with at least 200 career IP Paige Parker is sixth in career ERA (1.59) and is also 12th in shutouts (20) and 37th in wins (54) ... Erin Miller is 24th among active NCAA players with 11 career triples ... Kelsey Stevens is 12th among active pitchers in career victories (71), 12th in games started (109), 14th in K/7 (7.70; min. 400 IP), 17th in shutouts (19), 18th in appearances (139), 21st in strikeouts (616) and 47th in innings pitched (560.0) ... among players with at least 100 career at-bats, Shay Knighten ranks 49th in slugging (.679)
After going 4-0 last week, OU moved up two spots to No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Coaches Poll and three spots to a tie for No. 4 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. It's the highest ranking in each poll this season for OU.
Oklahoma is the only program to be ranked every week of the NFCA poll, 319 straight polls.
OU slipped one spot to No. 4 in the RPI poll after spending three weeks at No. 3.
