May 11, 2016 | Rowing
NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma rowing team earned 20 spots on the 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Wednesday.
Eighteen Sooners earned first-team status while two were named to the second team. First-team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
Once again, senior computer science major Marissa Beene highlighted the OU selections as she was one of 10 Big 12 student-athletes who holds a 4.0 grade point average. A total of 158 rowers were honored across the eight Big 12 programs.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
