Sooners Top Tulsa at Stone Family Cup

OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Oklahoma rowing team won its second consecutive Stone Family Cup against Tulsa on Saturday by a score of 135-117. The Sooners claimed victories in four of five races at the regatta, which was held at the Boathouse District.

The OU 2V4, which is the reigning Big 12 Boat of the Week, started off the day on top, finishing in 8:06.07. The first varsity four also notched a victory, crossing the line in 8:08.1, seven seconds ahead of the Golden Hurricane.

The Sooners' 2V8 posted a dominating win, finishing 18 seconds ahead of Tulsa with a time of 7:21.54.

The OU first varsity eight finished off the day in exciting fashion, crossing the finish line in 7:13.77 to edge Tulsa by just under two seconds.

The Tulsa 3V8 topped Oklahoma in the second race of the day. The Sooners posted a time of 7:39.7.

"It was great to race at home in front of our fans," OU head coach Leeanne Crain said. "I want to thank Tulsa for hosting a nice event and thank UCO and the Boathouse Foundation for allowing us to use the racing venue."

The Stone Family Cup marked the final regular-season competition for OU. The Sooners return to action May 14-15 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Big 12 Championship.
