NORMAN – After the first two rounds of the Big 12 Championship, the No. 20 Oklahoma men's golf team is in fourth place with an overall 604 (+28). The three-day, 72-hole tournament is taking place at the par-72, 7,473-yard Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.

The Sooners shot a 307 (+19) in the first round and a 297 (+9) in the second, advancing them three places in the team rankings.

"We struggled early this morning, which has put ourselves in a hole moving forward, but we got better this afternoon," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. "We still have a lot of golf left down here, and one great round can do wonders at this championship."

Texas, who is ranked No. 1 by Golfweek/Sagarin, leads the 10-team field with a two-round 585 (+9). No. 7 Oklahoma State holds second place with a 592 (+16), and one stroke behind the Cowboys is No. 40 Texas Tech. Sitting in fifth one stroke behind of OU is Kansas State.

Sophomore Grant Hirschman paces the Sooners with a two-round 149 (+5), holding a tie for 12th. He pocketed five birdies on Friday, firing a 73 (+1) in the first round and a 76 (+4) in the second.

Freshman Brad Dalke is in a tie for 15th with a 151 (+7). After carding a 77 (+5) in the first round, Dalke posted a 74 (+2) in the second. One stroke behind Dalke and in a tie for 19th is junior Max McGreevy, who recorded a 78 (+6) and a 74 (+2) on the day.

Senior Luke Kwon holds a share of 24th after tallying a 154 (+10). He shot a 79 (+7) in the first round and a 75 (+3) in the second.

Blaine Hale showed the most improvement for the Sooners between the two rounds. Despite carding an eagle, the freshman ended the first round with an 82 (+10). However, Hale bounced back in the second round with a 74 (+2), collecting three birdies. He is now in a tie for 34th.

The third round of the Big 12 Championship is scheduled for Saturday morning, and the Sooners' tee times will begin at 8:45 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
