OU Tallies Five Wins at Oregon State Classic

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma rowing team tallied five wins at the Oregon State Classic on Saturday. The regatta was held at the Dexter Reservoir in Lowell, Ore.

The Sooners started off racing five boats in Saturday's morning session against Central Florida and Oregon State and taking first in three divisions. The OU 2V4 came across the line in 4:48.40, the 1V4 in 7:43.59 and the 2V8 in 6:46.88, all to claim first place.

The Oklahoma first varsity eight came in second place after being edged by Oregon State, who finished one second faster than the Sooners. The 3V8 also finished in second at 7:15.47.

The Sooners competed against Central Florida, Oregon, Oregon State and Seattle Pacific in the afternoon session, and the 3V8 and 2V4 each picked up wins. The 3V8 crossed the line in 8:11.90 to defeat Oregon, and the second varsity four completed the 2K race in 8:21.19.

The OU 1V8, 1V4 and 2V8 raced against No. 6 Stanford, No. 8 Washington, Central Florida and Oregon State. The 1V4 and 2V8 each came in third place at 8:27.65 and 7:34.74, respectively, and the first varsity eight finished in fourth place in 7:21.34.

The Sooners return to the course on April 16-17 for the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
