Sooners Set for Clemson Invitational

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma rowing team is back in action this Saturday and Sunday in Clemson, S.C., for the Clemson Invitational at Lake Hartwell.

The Sooners will join 19 other teams, including eight teams ranked in the CRCA/US Rowing Coaches Poll top 20, for three sessions of racing over two days, with two sessions on Saturday and one Sunday morning. Five OU boats will compete in each session of the Clemson Invitational, which marks the first of three straight weekends of racing for the squad.

In the Saturday morning session, OU will face No. 4 Ohio State, No. 20 Louisville, Columbia, Michigan State, Tennessee and UCLA for four races, while the third varsity eight will race No. 4 Ohio State, No. 14 Washington State, No. 19 Syracuse, Clemson and Indiana.

The Sooners match up with No. 10 Michigan, No. 14 Washington State, Columbia, Oregon State, Tennessee and UCF in the 1V8, 2V8 and 1V4 races on Saturday afternoon, while the 2V4 faces just Columbia, Michigan, Tennesee and UCF. The 3V8 will race the Clemson 4V, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse and No. 8 Texas.

In Sunday morning's final session, Oklahoma will take on No. 3 Virginia, Michigan, Penn, Syracuse and UCLA, and the 3V8 will face the Clemson V4, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse, UCF and Virginia.
