OU Concludes Day One at Southern Highlands

NORMAN – After the first round of the competitive Southern Highlands Collegiate, the No. 17 Oklahoma men's golf team is in 12th place with a 303 (+15). The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
The 15-team field is one of the most competitive in college golf, featuring nine teams in the top 20 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and 14 in the top 40.
No. 14 Arizona State leads the elite field at 291 (+3). No. 1 Illinois, No. 8 USC and No. 35 SMU are tied for second, one stroke behind the Sun Devils. Big 12 rival No. 10 Oklahoma State sits in fifth with a 293 (+5).
Senior Luke Kwon and junior Max McGreevy lead the Sooners, sharing a tie for 24th place after firing a 74 (+2) for the round. Both golfers pocketed two birdies Monday.
Freshman Brad Dalke is in 46th place with a 76 (+4), and classmate Blaine Hale is in 70th with a 79 (+9).
Despite collecting three early birdies, sophomore Grant Hirschman struggled throughout the rest of the round. He now sits in 74th with an 81 (+9).
The second round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate is slated for Tuesday morning. The Sooners' tee times will begin at 10:20 a.m. CT from hole No. 10, and live stats will be available at GolfStat.com.
