OU Opens Spring Slate at Cardinal Invite

March 10, 2016 | Rowing

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma rowing team is set to open its spring season this Saturday and Sunday at the Cardinal Invitational.  The two-day regatta will be held on Melton Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

OU is coming off a successful fall slate, taking home championship four and open eight titles at the Head of the Hooch and securing two more wins at the season-opening Head of the Oklahoma.

This weekend, the Sooners will be joined by 12 other teams and will compete in varsity eight and varsity four races.  OU head coach Leeanne Crain said she is anxious to see how her team matches up with elite competition.

“We are excited to open the season this weekend in Tennessee and grateful to Louisville for the invitation to compete,” Crain said. “The team has been working incredibly hard in practice and I know they're looking forward to racing.  We'll have the opportunity to race some outstanding opponents which will be a great test for our young team.”
