NORMAN – The No. 7 Oklahoma men's golf team holds seventh place after the first round at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Ka'anapali Course at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i.

The Sooners, who are the defending team champions at the event, carded a 290 (+6) in Friday's first round.

“It was a tough day for us, and we did not have our best stuff as a group,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “Max (McGreevy) and Blaine (Hale) played very solid all day, and we need to get everyone going tomorrow.”

No. 29 South Carolina leads the 24-team tournament at 282 (-2), and No. 13 LSU is one stroke behind the Gamecocks. No. 15 Georgia and No. 24 Clemson share third at 284 (E), and No. 33 North Florida and UC Santa Barbara are tied for fifth with a first-round 287 (+3).

Senior Max McGreevy and sophomore Blaine Hale lead OU, sharing ninth place. Both Sooners tallied two birdies and shot a bogey-free front nine en route to a first-round 70 (-1).

Junior Grant Hirschman, sophomore Brad Dalke and freshman Riley Casey all recorded a 75 (+4) on Friday, positioning the trio in a tie for 62nd. Casey also pocketed an eagle on the par-5 hole 9.

Redshirt freshman Quade Cummins is competing as an individual and is unattached from team scoring. He holds a share of 109th place after shooting an 80 (+9) on Friday.

The second round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic is scheduled to begin Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
