Reinertson Earns Second Nebraska Amateur Honor

November 14, 2016 | Men's Golf

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma men's golfer Rylee Reinertson has been named the 2016 Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year, the Nebraska Golf Association announced Wednesday. This award marks the second consecutive year Reinertson has received the honor.

The Gibbon, Neb., native is now one of just four golfers to win the award in back-to-back years, according to a release. Additionally, he was named the Junior Golfer of the Year in 2011 and 2012, making him one of two people to ever win both awards twice and the only to earn both in consecutive years.

"To win this award again this year is another great honor because it means I've played some solid golf over a period of time," Reinertson said. "I know the history behind the award and I'm very humbled to have my name amongst some great company."

Reinertson, now a junior at OU, won the 49th Nebraska Match Play Championship in June, taking the title with a 6 and 5 victory in the 36-hole final match.

He was also the runner-up at the 108th Nebraska Amateur Championship in July. He finished runner-up in 2014 as well and claimed the title at the 2015 event.

In his OU career, Reinertson has made nine tournament appearances, posting a 74.00 scoring average, with his best finish coming last spring when he tied for 20th at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational.

Reinertson will be honored at the Nebraska Golf Association's 50-Year Anniversary Gala on Nov. 18 in Omaha, Neb. More information about the award can be found here
