OU in Fourth through Two Rounds at Nike Invite

NORMAN – The No. 11 Oklahoma men's golf team is in fourth place after the second round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-70, 7,209-yard Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Sooners showed improvement as the round went on. Through the front nine holes, the team sat at 8-over par. However, OU rebounded on the back nine to finish the day at 291 (+11), putting its 36-hole total to 564 (+4).
"As good as yesterday was, today was just the opposite," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. "We couldn't get anything going and the tone was set early, and all of our guys struggled. We will be better tomorrow, and a good round will go a long way for us."
No. 9 Vanderbilt leads the competitive 15-team field, which features 10 teams ranked in the top-20 of the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, at 551 (-9). No. 8 Florida is in second, one stroke behind the Commodores, and No. 12 Georgia holds third, one stroke ahead of the Sooners. Rounding out the top five is Oregon with a two-round 565 (+5).
Sophomores Brad Dalke and Blaine Hale lead the Sooners, each holding a share of 13th place at 140 (E). Dalke put together a 73 (+3) on Monday that included a bogey-free back nine. Hale posted a 74 (+4), carding three birdies.
Grant Hirschman is currently tied for 22nd place. The junior shot a 74 (+4) in the second round to bring his total to 141 (+1).
Redshirt freshman Quade Cummins and senior Max McGreevy progressed on Monday, both recording a team-best 72 (+2) for the day. Cummins now sits in a tie for 38th at 145 (+5), and McGreevy holds a share of 61st at 151 (+11).
The final round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning, and the Sooners will start teeing off at 8:15 a.m. CT from hole No. 1. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
