NORMAN – The OU rowing team returned to the water Sunday for the fourth annual Jayhawk Jamboree. The 12-team regatta, hosted by the University of Kansas, took place at the Kansas Rowing Boathouse at Burcham Park in Lawrence, Kan.

The Sooners joined varsity and club teams from Colorado, Creighton, Drake, Grand Valley State, Iowa, Kansas State, Tulsa, UCO, UMKC and Wichita State, and competed in three varsity eights, a novice eight and in the varsity fours contest.

Oklahoma began the day taking home fourth in the women's collegiate novice 8+ behind Kansas State, Iowa and Kansas. OU crossed the line with a time of 14:29.96.

Six Sooner crews raced in the women's collegiate 4+, which featured 34 boats. Oklahoma B came across the line first out of all boats with a time of 14:03.30, Oklahoma A placed fourth with a time of 14:10.76 and Oklahoma C followed in fifth with a 14:24.19 mark. Oklahoma D finished seventh in 14:41.92. Oklahoma E crossed the line in 14:59.00, and Oklahoma F followed with a time of 15:34.33, placing 12th and 20th, respectively.

The Sooners raced three boats in the women's collegiate 8 final. Oklahoma A placed second out of 29 boats, crossing the line in 13:08.08. Oklahoma B finished fourth with a time of 13:21.63, and coming in seventh was Oklahoma C in 13:41.26.

OU also competed in the 300-meter heats with Oklahoma A (52.47 seconds) and Oklahoma B (54.11 seconds) taking second in each of their semifinal races.

The Sooners will travel to Austin, Texas, next Saturday, Oct. 29, for the Head of the Oklahoma.
