Fans Invited to Preseason Softball Banquet

NORMAN -- The Oklahoma Softball program and the University of Oklahoma Women's Softball Diamond Club will host the annual Meet the Team Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Norman. Doors open at noon with lunch to follow at 1 p.m.

Fans will have the chance to meet the 2016 Oklahoma Softball team before it opens its season on Feb. 12 at the Sportco Kick Off Classic in Las Vegas. Head coach Patty Gasso will give a preview of the season, while a silent auction and a photo opportunity with the team will also be part of the event.

The banquet is open to the public and tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 6-12 year old. The event is free to children under 6 years of age. Tickets can be purchased by contacting OU Director of Operations, Jackie Livingston, at 405-325-8377 or jackiel@ou.edu.

Tickets for the event need to be purchased by Friday, Jan. 22.

The Sooners are coming off their 22nd consecutive postseason with Gasso leading the way on the past 21 trips. Oklahoma won an unprecedented fourth straight Big 12 title in 2015 and reached the NCAA Super Regionals for the sixth straight season.

The team returns 11 letterwinners from a year ago, including NFCA Freshman of the Year and second team All-American Paige Parker, as well as all-region honorees Kelsey Arnold, Erin Miller, Whitney Montgomery, Nicole Pendley and Kady Self.

In addition, eight freshmen join the squad as OU looks to return to the Women's College World Series for the 10th time in program history.
