NORMAN—After the second round of the Carmel Cup, the No. 18 Oklahoma men's golf team sits in fourth place with a 723 (+3). The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at the iconic 6,828-yard, par-72 Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif.

The eight-team tournament, hosted by Vanderbilt, showcases four squads ranked in the top 20 of the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll. Each team is competing with six golfers, and the low five scores count toward the team total each round.

The Sooners began the day in fifth place before recording a 1-under-par 359 on Saturday.

After shooting a 9 under par in the second round, No. 16 Oklahoma State sits in first place with a 712 (-8) overall, nine strokes ahead of No. 12 Georgia and No. 11 Vanderbilt. Texas Tech and Arkansas each have a piece of fifth place with scores of 730 (+10), Ohio State holds seventh with a 736 (+16) and at 19 over par, TCU is in eighth.

Senior Luke Kwon and freshman Brad Dalke share eighth place with an overall 143 (-1). Kwon finished the day with a 71 (-1) and recorded five birdies Saturday. Dalke, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot an even-par 72 for the round, pocketing three birdies.

Junior Max McGreevy has a share of 15th place with an even-par 144 overall. McGreevy hit a bogey-free round Saturday, shooting three birdies for a 69 (-3).

“It's nice to see Brad get another solid round under his belt,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “Max played a bogey-free round, which is always nice, and Luke had it going all day long,”

Sophomore Grant Hirshman hit a 75 (+3) in the second round, bringing his overall score to 148 (+4), putting him in a tie for 26th place. With a 1-over 73, freshman Aaron Terrazas showed improvement today. He sits in 30th place with a total score of 149 (+5).

Sophomore Rylee Reinertson struggled Saturday, shooting a 79 (+7) and moving from a tie for 18th place to holding a share of 38th.

Hybl said the team would have to be competitive in the final round Sunday.

“We are going to have to get after it to have a chance,” he said.

The final round of the Carmel Cup is scheduled for Sunday. The Sooners will tee off at 10:10 a.m. CT from hole No. 1. Live stats will be available at GolfStat.com.
