NORMAN – University of Oklahoma Head Rowing Coach Leeanne Crain and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the 2015-16 OU rowing schedule on Tuesday. The Sooners, who have won two of the past three Big 12 Conference titles, enter their eighth year of competition.

The season, which features three regular-season fall and five regular-season spring regattas, is highlighted by the conference championship held each year in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The Sooners open the fall season at the Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. The regatta is the squad's only home event of the year and is scheduled for Oct. 3-4. From there, OU travels to Austin, Texas, on Oct. 31 for the Head of the Colorado before closing out the fall slate at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Nov. 7- 8.

After a week of winter training camp in Orlando, Fla., OU returns to competition on March 12-13 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the competitive Cardinal Invitational. The spring schedule also includes trips to the Oregon State Classic in Lake Dexter, Ore. (April 2), the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C. (April 16-17) and the Big 12/Big 10 Double Dual in Madison, Wis. (April 23). The regular season ends in Tulsa, Okla., for the Stone Family Cup, an in-state rivalry match-up with the University of Tulsa on April 30.

“We feel like this year's schedule will prepare us well for Big 12s and the post-season,” Crain said. “We'll face some really good competition throughout, starting with the Cardinal Invitational in March. Our goal is to do well in the regular season, but we always try to keep our focus on being prepared and ready for our conference championship in May.”

The Sooners' postseason begins in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the Big 12 Championship on May 14-15. The winner of the conference title earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. The Sooners will look to qualify for their third NCAA contest, which will be held May 27-29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif.
