NORMAN – Oklahoma seniors Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley have been named two of the 26 finalists for the 2015 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, the Amateur Softball Association of America and USA Softball announced Wednesday.
Due to a tie, 26 individuals have been named as the Top 26 Finalists for the award. Oklahoma was one of seven schools to have multiple players on the list, joining Arizona, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon and UCLA.
Chamberlain and Pendley, who last week became the first teammates in history to be taken with the first two picks of the NPF Draft, can find their names throughout the history books.
Both are among the top seven on the all-time home run list as Chamberlain ranks second with 88 and Pendley is in a tie for seventh with 79. Both players are also in the top 20 of career RBI as Pendley is eighth with 253 and Chamberlain is 17th with 238.
This season, Pendley leads the team with 19 home runs and both players are tied at the top with 49 runs batted in. Chamberlain leads OU in runs (48), slugging (1.054), walks (41) and one-base percentage (.604).
Pendley is batting .410 with a 1.050 slugging percentage and .538 OBP. She has scored 44 runs and tallied seven doubles, 26 walks and six stolen bases. In addition, she has made 15 appearances in the circle. With a record of 10-1, Pendley has a 2.64 earned run average and 47 strikeouts and 19 walks in 47.2 innings pitched.
Chamberlain owns a .419 batting average this season and has recorded seven doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and six stolen bases.

Just prior to the start of postseason play, on May 6 the list will be narrowed to the Top 10 Finalists. The Top 3 Finalists will be announced May 20, while the winner of the 2015 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be revealed on May 26 prior to the start of the WCWS in Oklahoma City.
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is voted on by coaching representatives from 10 Division I Conferences in the 15 ASA Regions, members of the media who consistently cover Division I Softball across the country as well as past winners of the award.
