 Georgia Casey // Sr. // IFGeorgia Casey hit her first two home runs of the season and drove in a career-high six runs in the Sooners' win. She hit the first grand slam of her career in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the fourth. It was the second multi-homer game of her career, also doing so against Northwestern on Feb. 10, 2013. In the field, Casey also made a key defensive play in the fourth as she threw out a runner at the plate. |

NORMAN – Seniors Georgia Casey and Shelby Pendley each hit two home runs as No. 5/5 Oklahoma (33-5) run-ruled Arkansas (14-25) in five innings, 10-1, Wednesday night.
With her two solo home runs, Pendley has 79 in her career, tying her for seventh on the NCAA Division I all-time list with Washington's Kristen Rivera (2002-05). Pendley has 60 homers in her time at Oklahoma and a team-best 19 this season. Wednesday was her 14th career multi-home run game.
Pendley was also the starting pitcher in the game and earned the win. In improving to 10-1 on the season, Pendley struck out three and walked three while allowing one unearned run on five hits to drop her season ERA from 2.89 to 2.64.
Casey enjoyed the second multi-homer game of her career. She hit a grand slam in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the fourth. They were her first two home runs of the season and her six runs batted in were a career high.
In her four games since returning to the starting lineup after recovering from a thumb injury, Casey is 5-11 (.455) with three runs scored, two home runs, 11 RBI, one walk and no strikeouts. She is slugging 1.000 and getting on-base at a .500 clip.
It was the Sooners' ninth straight win and their 18th run-rule victory of the season. This year, OU has now had two nine-game winning streaks and a streak of 14 straight wins.
The game was OU's first ever "Bark in the Park" promotion as fans were allowed to bring dogs into the left field bleachers.
The win continued OU's series dominance over the Razorbacks. All-time, Oklahoma is 20-2 against Arkansas, including six straight wins. Against teams they have faced at least 20 times in their history, the Sooners' winning percentage of .909 is second-best against Arkansas.
The Sooners wasted little time jumping on the Razorbacks, sending 12 batters to the plate in the first inning and scoring six runs.
Pendley got things started with a one-out, solo homer to center field. Freshman Paige Parker kept the pressure on with a single to left field before junior Tori Nirschl replaced her as a pinch runner. Junior Erin Miller followed with a single through the right side and Nirschl took the extra base to make it safely to third.
With runners on the corners, junior Kady Self put down a perfectly placed bunt to squeeze in Nirschl. A single to left field by freshman Nicole Pendley filled the bases for Casey, who recorded her first career grand slam and her first home run of the season with a homer to left field. It was the seventh grand slam of the season for the Sooners, and with the 6-0 lead, OU has outscored teams 84-10 in the first inning this season.
Arkansas got its lone run of the game in the third inning with the benefit of an OU error.
With the bases loaded and one out, Rachel Box hit a grounder to freshman Kelsey Arnold at first base. Arnold fired home to get the lead runner, but junior Whitney Ellis' attempt to get Box at first base resulted in a throwing error into right field, allowing Madison Yannetti to score from second base.
The Razorbacks looked as though they would cut the lead even further in the fourth, but Casey came through for the Sooners.
After Megan Pearson hit a one-out single, Kylie Smith pinch ran for her and stole second. Claire Clark then singled up the middle to put runners on the corners with just one out. Tori Cooper followed with a chopper to Casey at second, but the senior fired home to cut down Smith at the plate. Yannetti then flied out to right to end the inning.
The Sooners' capitalized on the momentum and put the run-rule into effect with a four-run fourth.
Pendley hit her second solo homer of the game to lead off the frame. Nirschl followed with a double to right field. Two batters later, Nirschl moved up to third on a wild pitch from Arkansas relief pitcher Grace Moll and then came around to score on another wild pitch from Moll.
Later in the frame, with Nicole Pendley on second, Casey hit a two-run homer to center field to push the OU advantage to 10-1.
In the top of the fifth, the OU defense showed up again to erase an Arkansas runner at the plate.
Parker Pocklington walked and moved to second when Autumn Russell reached on an infield single. Two batters later, Jessie Mullen dropped a single into left field. Miller, who started the game in right field but moved over to left to start the fifth, picked up the ball and fired home to Ellis at the plate to nail Pocklington.
Oklahoma returns to Big 12 play with a road series at Texas this weekend. First place in the conference is on the line as the Sooners head to Austin with a 6-0 mark in the league, while the Longhorns are 3-0. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and all three games can be seen on the Longhorn Network.
