April 03, 2015 | Men's Golf

NORMAN  The No. 9 Oklahoma men's golf team heads to Bryan, Texas, to compete in the Aggie Invitational on April 4 and 5 (Saturday and Sunday). The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the 7,146-yard, par-72 Traditions Club.

The 13-team field features seven squads ranked within the top 50 of the latest Golfstat rankings, including the Sooners.

Sixth-year OU head coach Ryan Hybl said the course will test his team, and he hopes to see it play well enough to have a chance to win entering the final round.

“Traditions is a tough golf course, and we are ready for the challenge,” Hybl said. “It really tests your patience and ability. Saturday will be a long day, and hopefully we can put ourselves in a position to go win this week.”

The Sooners are coming off a fifth-place showing at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greenboro, Ga., where they shot a three-round 851 (-13). Senior Michael Gellerman led OU, taking a share of eighth place with a 5-under-par 211.

OU's lineup will include seniors Gellerman and Charlie Saxon, junior Luke Kwon, sophomore Max McGreevy and freshman Grant Hirschman. Junior Beau Titsworth will compete as an individual and unattached from team scoring.
