NORMAN — Four members of the No. 9 Oklahoma men's golf team were among 33 student-athletes named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Golf Team, the league office announced Friday.

Senior Michael Gellerman (communication), senior Charlie Saxon (communication), junior Beau Titsworth (finance) and junior Luke Kwon (multidisciplinary studies) earned first-team honors with a 3.20 or better GPA. The first-team honor is the third in a row for Gellerman, while Saxon and Titsworth are recognized for the second time. The award is the first for Kwon.

A total of 26 student-athletes from the conference's nine universities with men's golf programs made the first team, while seven claimed second-team spots.

"I am always proud of the way our guys handle themselves in the classroom, and these four guys have excelled here at the University of Oklahoma," said Ryan Hybl, sixth-year OU head coach. "What is even better is that all of these guys play for us every week, so they balance missing a lot of school throughout the year and deserve serious credit for their efforts."

To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulatively or over each of the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The Sooners return to the course April 27-29 as they travel to the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the Big 12 Championship. Admission to the event is free.
