Winners of 14 straight, No. 6/6 Oklahoma travels to the Bayou State this weekend to face No. 1/1 LSU for two games and McNeese State for a neutral-site contest.
Both games against LSU will air on TV, beginning with a Friday night matchup on ESPNU. Satuday's game will be carried by SEC Network+.
The Sooners are 9-6 all-time against LSU, including a 1-1 mark in Baton Rouge. The Sooners have won five straight games against the Tigers dating back to 2009. In those five wins, OU has outscored the Tigers, 25-3.
Last season, OU swept a two-game series in Norman. On March 22, Shelby Pendley hit the game-tying home run in the sixth inning and then delivered the walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Sooners a 2-1 win. Oklahoma was hitless until the sixth inning when Pendley hit the tying shot.
A three-run third and a clutch relief appearance from Pendley then gave Oklahoma a 3-2 win on March 23. OU led 3-1 and Pendley came in to relieve starter Kelsey Stevens facing a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the fifth. Pendley preserved the lead by striking out Bianka Bell and Sahvanna Jaquish.
The Sooners are 10-2 all-time against McNeese State boasting 5-1 records in Norman and at neutral sites. OU has won the last three games in the series and five of the past six.
FACING NO. 1
The Sooners will face newly-crowned No. 1 LSU this weekend. OU's last meeting with a top-ranked school came in last year's WCWS when No. 1 Oregon ended OU's season with a 4-2 win. All-time, the Sooners are 4-14 against No. 1 teams, but the team's record is actually 3-3 in true road games against a No. 1 school.

GASSO PASSES 1,000 WINS AT OKLAHOMA
With a 23-1, five-inning win over East Carolina on March 15, head coach Patty Gasso earned her 1,000th win at Oklahoma. Gasso is the 28th coach in NCAA softball history to reach that figure and the 17th to do it at the Division I level. She is also one of 10 coaches to get 1,000 wins at one Division 1 school.
Needing just 1,300 games, Gasso became the second-fastest coach in DI history to reach 1,000 wins. Only Arizona's Mike Candrea did it quicker, doing so in 1,191 games.

SHELBY PENDLEY ON REMARKABLE HOT STREAK
Senior Shelby Pendley missed four games March 7-8, but since her return there may not be a hotter hitter in the country. Over her last six games, the reigning NFCA National Player of the Week has reached safely in 20 of 24 plate appearances for a .833 on-base percentage by going 15-19 (.789) at the plate with five walks. Of her 15 hits, eight of them have been home runs and three were doubles for a 2.211 slugging percentage.

A CLASS OF THEIR OWN
The 2015 campaign marks the final seasons for five Oklahoma seniors: Georgia Casey, Lauren Chamberlain, Callie Parsons, Shelby Pendley and Jessica Vest. Since they stepped on campus three years ago (Pendley transferred to OU as a sophomore in 2013), no team in the country has a better win percentage than the OU seniors and only Florida, which has played nine more games than the Sooners, has more wins.

CHAMBERLAIN, PENDLEY DUBBED 'RUTH AND GEHRIG'
In a Feb. 2 article on ESPNW.com, writer Graham Hays referred to OU's Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley as the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of college softball.
“In Chamberlain and Pendley, Oklahoma has the closest combination college softball might see to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig,” Hays wrote. “One is the face and voice of a sport, the other the quiet embodiment of excellence. Good luck stopping them.”
Chamberlain and Pendley rank first and second nationally among active players in career home runs (through 3/17).

TAKING ON THE TOP 25
Oklahoma has played one of the toughest schedules so far in the country. Through March 15, OU ranks third in top-25 wins and fourth in winning percentage against top-25 teams. In addition, the Sooners are tied for 11th in most games played against top-25 teams with eight.
IN THE POLLS
Oklahoma is ranked sixth in both the NFCA and USA Softball polls for the second straight week. OU has been ranked sixth or better in each of the polls for the last eight weeks.
Oklahoma is the only program to be ranked every week of the NFCA poll. The Sooners entered the rankings at No. 18 in the first poll on January 24, 1995. They have not dropped out since -- 296 straight polls. Likewise, the Sooners have been ranked every week of the USA Softball poll, dating back to the 2003 season when they opened at No. 11.
RECORDS FALL IN WILD WEEKEND
Several school records were set or tied, and the Sooners also etched their names into the NCAA record books after OU posted wins of 23-3 over Iowa (3/14) and 23-1 vs. East Carolina (3/25).

SHELBY PENDLEY, PARKER MAKE HISTORY VS. ECU
History was made in the circle and at the plate March 14 as Oklahoma run-ruled East Carolina in five innings, 11-0.
Freshman Paige Parker joined elite company as she threw her third career perfect game, while senior Shelby Pendley tied a school record by hitting three home runs.
Parker became the 22nd player in NCAA DI history, and the first Sooner, to throw three perfect games in a career, and she's done it all in only 10 starts. In addition, she is the 11th player in NCAA DI history to throw three perfect games in one season. Only Louisiana-Lafayette's Kyla Hall and Boston's Audrey West had more when they each threw four in the 1994 season. Among the 11 to throw at least three perfect games in a season, only Cat Osterman (2002) also did it as a freshman like Parker.
Pendley tied a school record as she hit three home runs. Pendley joins former Sooner Amber Flores as the only Sooners to accomplish the feat. Flores did it in the Super Regionals against Washington on May 27, 2010. Pendley was 3-3 with three home runs and five runs batted in. She hit a solo homer in the first, a three-run shot in the second and another solo homer in the fourth.
As a result of their performances, Pendley and Parker were named Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
