ST. LOUIS Three Oklahoma wrestlers advanced with wins in the first session at the 2015 NCAA Division I Championships inside Scottrade Center, while two moved to the consolation bracket.

Redshirt junior Cody Brewer, redshirt senior Justin DeAngelis and redshirt sophomore Ross Larson registered first-round victories for the Sooners.

At 133 pounds, No. 13 Brewer defeated Northwestern's Dominick Malone by fall in 3:28. Malone struck first, registering an early takedown, but Brewer responded with an escape, takedown, three-point nearfall and two-point nearfall to jump to an 8-2 lead after the first period. Brewer then started the second in the down position, quickly adding a reversal, before catching Malone by pin. Tonight, Brewer will face No. 4 Johnni DiJulius of Ohio State.

Against Brooks Martino of Penn at 157 pounds, DeAngelis tallied a 6-4 decision. No. 10 seed DeAngelis, who is competing at NCAAs for the second straight season, never trailed in the bout and tallied two takedowns and two escapes en route to the victory. DeAngelis will battle No. 7 Ian Miller from Kent State in Session 2.

In a heavyweight bout, No. 15 Larson took on Jacob Henderson of Old Dominion. The match remained scoreless throughout most of the first period before Larson tallied a pair of late takedowns to lead 4-0. Larson rode out Henderson in the second period, finishing the match with 2:19 riding time, and eventually won by an 8-0 major decision. Larson's next opponent will be No. 2 Michael McMullan from Northwestern.

Redshirt sophomores Clark Glass and Matt Reed, who are both making their debuts at the NCAA Championships, faced seeded opponents in their opening matches. At 165 pounds, Glass fell to No. 4 Nicholas Sulzer of Virginia by major decision, 10-2.

Reed took on No. 8 Tyler Wilps of Pitt at 174 pounds. The bout was close throughout, with Reed trailing by just a point at the end of the first and second periods. With the score 5-4, Wilps added a late takedown to secure a 7-4 decision.

Looking to stay alive in consolation action tonight, Glass will take on Patrick Robinson IV of Purdue, while Reed will match up with Cornell's George Pickett.

Session 2 of the NCAA Championships is slated to begin at 6 p.m. CT with the action airing on ESPNU. Coverage of each mat will be available online at ESPN3.com.
