Sooners Finish Day Two of Cardinal Invite

NORMAN -- The Sooner rowing team raced head-to-head against some of the nation's top teams on Sunday morning, as Oklahoma faced No. 2 Virginia and No. 18 Louisville in each of its five races in day two of the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake.

The Crimson and Cream crews competed against the Cavaliers and Cardinals in the first varsity eight, the first varsity four, first novice eight, second varsity eight and second varsity four races.

Virginia won all five of the races, however OU was competitive throughout the morning. The Oklahoma first novice eight crew crossed the finish line third out of the four boats with a time of 6:43.270. The Sooner first varsity eight crew nearly took second place with a mark of 6:05.782, finishing just over a second behind Louisville.

Other Crimson and Cream times from Sunday are as follows: first varsity four (6:57.623), second varsity eight (6:17.303) and second varsity four (6:55.720).

The Sooners will continue to train over next week's spring break to tune up for the Pac-12 Challenge on Saturday, March 28 in Redwood City, Calif. The racing is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
