 Paige Parker // Fr. // LHPPaige Parker went 3-4 to record a career high in hits and tallied her first career multi-homer game as OU extended its win streak to 12. Parker started her day at the plate with a two-run homer to left field in the first inning and then added a solo shot to right center to lead off the fourth and hit a single in the sixth. In the circle, Parker threw a complete game with six strikeouts to improve to 9-2 on the year. |

NORMAN – The Sooners hit four more home runs, including two by freshman Paige Parker, as No. 6 Oklahoma (22-3) extended its winning streak to 12 games with an 8-2 win over Iowa (8-18) Sunday at Marita Hynes Field.
The four home runs continued a remarkable power streak for the Sooners. They've now hit at least four home runs in each of their last six games, including 21 over the weekend in four games against Iowa and East Carolina.
The win, which was the first in nine games to not come via run-rule, extended OU's season-best win streak to 12 games. It's the team's longest such streak since winning 16 straight from April 19 - May 23 last season.
After hitting a school record eight home runs earlier in the day against East Carolina, Oklahoma continued its hot hitting with three home runs in the first inning against Iowa.
Senior Lauren Chamberlain drew a one-out walk to put a runner on base for fellow senior Shelby Pendley. She drove a 3-2 pitch to the bleachers in right center for her seventh home run in the past four games. It was her 70th career home run, making her the 14th player in NCAA DI history to reach that mark and tying her for 13th on the all-time home run list.
In OU annals, it was Pendley's 51st career home run, moving her past former teammate Keilani Ricketts for fourth on the school ledger and fifth in Big 12 history.
The inning continued as junior Erin Miller followed Pendley with a walk. That enabled Parker to hit the second two-run homer of the inning for Oklahoma as she cranked a full-count pitch to left center. The Sooners then went back-to-back as junior Kady Self launched her fourth home run of the season on a 3-2 offering.
Parker's string of 6.2 perfect innings dating back to Samford on March 8 came to a close in the second inning when Iowa's Holly Hoffman hit a solo home run to center field to cut the OU lead to 5-1.
Oklahoma would answer back in the third with a pair of runs, however.
Self led off with a single to center and stole second before moving to third on junior Whitney Ellis' single to left field. Freshman Kelsey Arnold picked up an RBI when she grounded out to third to plate Self. Back-to-back walks to freshman Nicole Pendley and Chamberlain filled the bases and Shelby Pendley brought home another run when she reached first on a five-pitch walk.
Parker gave herself an insurance run in the fourth when she led off the frame with a homer to right field on an 0-1 pitch. It was her first career multi-homer game as she picked up her fifth and sixth long-balls of the year.
Iowa hit an additional solo homer in the seventh but that would be all that Parker would surrender over the game. She struck out six and allowed four hits and two runs in a complete-game effort to improve to 9-2 on the season.
Oklahoma closes out its nine-game homestand Monday evening with a third and final game against Iowa. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Marita Hynes Field.
