Due to cold temperatures and snowy conditions in the forecast, the No. 6/4 Oklahoma softball team will not be hosting its home opener this weekend. Instead, the team will travel to Houston, Texas, for four games at the Scrap Yard. The Sooners will play two games each on Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend begins with a doubleheader against IPFW. The Sooners have never faced the Mastodons, but they are 6-5 all-time against teams from The Summit League. OU has won four of its last five games against Summit teams dating to 1991, including a 9-1 win in six innings over Western Illinois last season (3/7).
In Sunday's doubleheader, Oklahoma then faces North Texas, against whom it is a perfect 25-0. Not only is the 25-0 record Oklahoma's best undefeated mark against another team, the 25 straight wins are the second longest active streak against one opponent by OU.

Oklahoma and North Texas have met every season since 2004. Last year, Kelsey Stevens was just three outs away from her first no-hitter as a Sooner, but still managed a one-hitter as OU shut out North Texas, 3-0, on April 23.
Stevens allowed just two baserunners during the entire contest, the first of which was a walk to Jordan Terry to lead off the second inning. From there, Stevens retired the next 15 batters she faced until Spencer Ferrell singled to left field on the first pitch of the seventh inning. Then-junior Georgia Casey hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, while then-senior Brittany Williams added a solo shot in the sixth.
CHAMBERLAIN'S STATUS TO BE DETERMINED
After suffering a head injury in OU's game against Loyola Marymount on Feb. 21, senior Lauren Chamberlain's status for this weekend's games is still to be determined. She will likely miss Saturday's games, but could return Sunday if she passes all concussion protocols.
CHAMBERLAIN MARCHING TOWARD HR RECORD
With 79 career home runs, senior Lauren Chamberlain is just 11 home runs away from tying the all-time home run record of 90 and 12 away from breaking it. She is currently tied for sixth.

THUMB INJURY TO KEEP CASEY OUT
Senior infielder Georgia Casey is expected to miss significant time after an injury suffered during Oklahoma's season opener. On Feb. 5, Casey suffered a tear of her ulnar collateral ligament in her left thumb during a tag play at second base. Casey had surgery on Feb. 12; one week after the injury occurred. The timetable for recovery is 8-12 weeks from the date of the surgery.
A three-time All-Big 12 honoree, Casey has a career batting average of .346 with 29 home runs and 121 runs batted in. Her on-base percentage of .459 ranks eighth in school history, while her .608 slugging percentage is ninth. Casey also ranks 10th at OU with 139 career runs scored, 38 doubles and 95 walks drawn.
A CLASS OF THEIR OWN
The 2015 campaign marks the final seasons for five Oklahoma seniors: Georgia Casey, Lauren Chamberlain, Callie Parsons, Shelby Pendley and Jessica Vest. Since they stepped on campus three years ago (Pendley transferred to OU as a sophomore in 2013), no team in the country has a better win percentage than the OU seniors and only Florida has more wins.

TAKING ON THE TOP 25
Though early in the season, Oklahoma has already played one of the toughest schedules so far. Through Feb. 22, OU has played eight games against ranked teams this year; only Florida State (9) has played more. In addition, OU's five wins against ranked teams are the most in the country.
CHAMBERLAIN, PENDLEY DUBBED 'RUTH AND GEHRIG'
In a Feb. 2 article on ESPNW.com, writer Graham Hays referred to OU's Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley as the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of college softball.
“In Chamberlain and Pendley, Oklahoma has the closest combination college softball might see to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig,” Hays wrote. “One is the face and voice of a sport, the other the quiet embodiment of excellence. Good luck stopping them.”
Chamberlain and Pendley currently rank first and second nationally among active players in career home runs.

IN THE POLLS
Oklahoma is ranked sixth and fourth in the NFCA and USA Softball polls, respectively. OU has been ranked sixth or better for the last five NFCA polls and fourth or better in the last five USA polls.
Oklahoma is the only program to be ranked every week of the NFCA poll. The Sooners entered the rankings at No. 18 in the first poll on January 24, 1995. They have not dropped out since -- 293 straight polls. Likewise, the Sooners have been ranked every week of the USA Softball poll, dating back to the 2003 season when they opened at No. 11.
SOONERS FINISH 3-2 AT MARY NUTTER CLASSIC
Facing its toughest weekend slate of the young season, Oklahoma went 3-2 at the prestigious Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Trailing No. 13/110 Arizona 4-0 after five innings in the opener on Feb. 19, OU rallied for four runs over the final two innings, including a game-tying homer by freshman Nicole Pendley in the top of the seventh, but Arizona's Kellie Fox hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh to win it 5-4. Oklahoma responded later that night with a 10-1, five-inning win over San Diego State to even their tournament record. OU used a pair of four-run innings in the first and fourth to earn the win.
Oklahoma again tried to rally in a ranked matchup as the Sooners found themselves down 6-2 to No. 8/7 Georgia on Feb. 20, but OU's three-run rally came up just short in a 6-5 loss.
OU closed the weekend with a pair of wins on Feb. 21, starting with a 7-3 win over No. 11/9 Kentucky. The Sooners scored all seven runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a two-run homer from Paige Parker, and Kelsey Stevens threw a one-hitter. The weekend finished with a 9-0, five-inning win over Loyola Marymount, highlighted by a six-run second inning.
