Tyson Invitational

February 14, 2015 | Track and Field
NORMAN – The first day of the Tyson Invitational and the Husky Classic proved to be one that led to 16 season best marks and a school record as the OU track and field team sent competitors to multiple meets as the indoor season nears the end of the season.
Julia Reedy, who is having her best indoor season, tied the women's school record in the weight throw with a 63-0 at the Razorback Invitational. Freshman Sarah Scott finished seventh in the mile with a season PR of 4:54.84. That improved her season best by nearly eight seconds.

In addition to the 16 season-best marks, six Sooners posted marks that put them on the all-time career list or moved them up that list. Making the career list on the first day of competition were Reedy in the weight throw and Jess Woodard in the women's weight throw, who moved to eighth with a 56-10.25. Ama Pipi moved to 10th in the 400 with a 55.13 to close out the top 10 marks in Fayetteville.
Elena Arriaza moved to fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a 16:43.25 and Brittany Tretbar moved into seventh in the same event with a 16:56.02. Abbabiya Simbassa went to fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a 14:01.87. All three of the marks came from Friday action in Seattle and all three came in the first race at the distance for the trio.
