Reinertson Named Nebraska Amateur of the Year
November 19, 2015 | Men's Golf
NORMAN — Oklahoma men's golf sophomore Rylee Reinertson has been named the 2015 Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year by the Nebraska Golf Association.
This honor is the first for the Gibbon, Neb., native, who was also named Junior Golfer of the Year in 2011 and 2012, according to a release.
“I'm extremely blessed to be in this position,” Reinertson said. “I'm really honored to be chosen as player of the year because I know there have been a lot of great players who have come through Nebraska that have been able to win this award, so to have my name amongst the people who have won it is a great feeling for me.”
Reinertson took the title at the Nebraska Amateur Championship in July, shooting back-to-back birdies on final holes to claim the win. In total, he pocketed 22 birdies and an eagle to finish the tournament with a four-round 286 (-2).
In his OU career, Reinertson has six tournament appearances, recording a 73.67 scoring average. He carded a career-low 65 (-6) in the first round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, his most recent competition.
He will be honored at the Nebraska Golf Association's Fall Awards Banquet in Lincoln, Neb., on Nov. 20. More information about the award can be found here.
