Ward notched her sixth double-double of the season in a 14-kill, 24-dig effort, which marks a new career-high. She hit .281 and added six blocks.

FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team erased a two-set deficit at TCU on Wednesday night before falling, 3-2. The Sooners, who dropped to 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12, led 8-4 in the fifth and had match-point at 14-13 before the Horned Frogs (13-4, 3-2) ended the match on a 5-2 run and take the match with an 18-16 win.

Oklahoma trailed two sets to none for just the second time this season after 25-23 and 25-20 decisions. The Sooners, who have yet to get swept this season, then rattled off wins of 25-19 and 26-24 to force the fifth and deciding set.

Four players finished in double-digit kills for Oklahoma. Redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward (Lawton, Okla.) and junior outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner (Grapevine, Texas) each posted a double-double. Ward knocked down 14 kills with a career-high 24 digs as she hit .323 for her sixth double-double of the season. Gardiner's team-leading seventh double-double came by way of 14 kills and 15 digs.

Senior outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) led all players with 16 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Marion Hazelwood (Beach City, Texas) added 12 kills, hit .348 and recorded a career-high 10 blocks.

For the match, Oklahoma outhit TCU, .238-.220. Ashley Smith paved the way for the Horned Frogs' attack with 15 kills to go with 14 digs. Sarita Mikals notched 14 kills and 11 digs, while Natalie Gower contributed 11 kills and seven blocks.

The Sooners, who are 1-5 in five-set matches and 1-7 when losing the second set, nearly overcame 12 service errors; their seventh match with double-digit errors. TCU totaled seven service aces to OU's four. Oklahoma did force the fifth set on an ace from sophomore defensive specialist Rachel Manriquez (Edmond, Okla.) to end the fourth.

Senior setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) dished out a match-high 35 assists to go with eight digs. Freshman Audrey Alford (Norman, Okla.) added 23 assists. For the Horned Frogs, Alexia Heist totaled 26 and Kaylee Smith totaled 25.

Defensively, Jillian Bergeson and Sutton Sunstrum posted 15 digs, while Regan McGuire totaled 12 blocks as TCU registered 19.5 to 14 for Oklahoma. Senior libero Taylor Migliazzo (Kansas City, Mo.) landed in double figures for the Sooners with 10 digs.

Oklahoma returns to action on Sunday, October 11 at Texas at 1:00 pm.
