OU in Seventh at Nike Invitational

NORMAN—The No. 4 Oklahoma men's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the opening round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational with a 280 (-4). The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in Portland, Ore., and round one took place at the venue's par-71, 6,834-yard Ghost Creek Course.
At 15 under par, No. 9 Wake Forest leads the competitive field, which features 11 teams ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50, including six in the top 10. Sitting three strokes behind in a tie for second place are No. 7 Stanford and No. 38 USC. No. 8 Georgia holds fourth place with a 276 (-8), and No. 10 Duke and TCU share fifth at 5 under par.
Junior Max McGreevy paces the Sooners after shooting a 68 (-3) on the day, placing him in a tie for ninth place. McGreevy pocketed an eagle and three birdies during the first round.
Also in the top 20 for the Sooners is sophomore Rylee Reinertson, who shares a piece of 17th place. Reinertson overcame early bogies to shoot five birdies and earn a 2-under-par 69 for the round.
Sophomore Grant Hirschman sits in a tie for 32nd place with an even-par 71, recording five birdies. Senior Luke Kwon is tied for 46th after tallying a 1-over 72. After shooting par on the front nine holes, freshman Brad Dalke struggled on the back nine and ended the round at 5 over par.
The second round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational is scheduled to begin Monday on Pumpkin Ridge's second course, the par-72, 7,015-yard Witch Hollow. The Sooners' tee times start at 10 a.m. CT from hole No. 1. Live stats will be available at Golfstat.com.
